TRAINING
AS FIGHTERS BEGIN TO TRAIN, THEY FOCUS ON REFINING THEIR SKILLS. AS WRITERS, WE REFINE OR WORK. I WAS ABLE TO BUILD ON THE THINGS I LEARNED AND DEVELOP A PATH TO COMPLETING THE ASSIGNMENT. IT'S THIS ACCUMULATION OF WORK THAT LEADS TO THE GOAL OF BEING PREPARED. AND AS FIGHT DAY APPROACHES, THE ONLY THING ON THE MIND IS VICTORY.
PRIMARY RESEARCH PLAN
Once we had all the information we needed regarding the expectations of our research and information into our topic, it was time to define our own area of research. This primary research plan was the first time we proposed possible research methods. This plan showcases how I was able to connect the concepts we were learning and to consider applying that to my own primary research. I was able to build from other examples and everything we learned in order to develop my own plan for what I wanted to accomplish. With that being said, the primary research plan is reflective of my navigation of choices within the research genre production course outcome. This course outcome can be seen when I stated, “I have selected genre analysis within each case study because I am attempting to study the social fact of professionalism and how these organization’s tattoo policies convey this concept based on their expectations of employees”. In this statement I gave a reason why this research method would work best with what I was looking to find out. In this case I wanted to understand how dress code policies are being used to set social facts and a genre analysis would be an appropriate method to study dress code policies as a genre that is mediating activity. I go on to state “In this case, analyzing service companies will allow me to investigate companies where human relations is important. With this type of human interaction taking place within members of this industry and consumers, I can get a great perspective of how these companies want their employees to represent them and how their policies reflect that”. In this statement I revealed my reasoning behind studying organizations that provide services. I showcased that I was able to make choices based on what worked best with the goals of my research. These decisions were able to make sense considering the context of what matters within the community I was studying. With this process work I was able to develop a plan that would accomplish my objectives for the research and prepare me for the fight.
RESEARCHED WRITE-UP OUTLINE
The outline for the final research paper is where we put all the components we had worked on thus far, together, and detailed the elements we still needed to incorporate or portions that needed revision. This was a great point for me to go through everything I needed to accomplish in order to make sure I was meeting all the requirements of the research assignment. This was a great guide for me to ensure I remained on track and was able to realize the things I needed to improve to make sure my writing had meaning. Because it was an outline I was able to showcase multiple ways of writing and also revealed some of the challenges I faced which satisfied the research genre production outcome.
This research write-up outline showcases my usage of unconventional methods in order to create an outline that would provide a guide for what I needed to include. I broke down each section that was to be incorporated within my final write-up by labelling them and giving a short summary of what was incomplete as well as what needed to be improved. Inside the outline I also included two screenshots of my data coding chart. The chart also represents a different way of formatting text that allowed me to create meaning in an unconventional way. I made my own analysis and connections in order to create focus codes for my data.
The outline is also reflective of my navigation of constraints within the research genre production course outcome. In some of my notes I had depicted some of the struggles I faced during the research process. I had stated, “At this point I am still trying to piece together a complete plan since I was unable to acquire the United Airlines dress code policy. I was told that those documents are not usually publicized and that they didn’t have anything to give me”. This statement reveals that my research into organizational appearance requirements brought forth constraints considering that the information I was looking for is not typically made public. It then reveals how I navigated these constraints when I go on to say, “I may have to scrap the third organization altogether due to difficulty accessing the policies”. I also detail other changes I needed to make because of this limitation when I state, “It also seems as though my research question was rather ambitious and that I may need to scale things back”. I also say earlier that “I need to make sure what I was able to find will align with my research question and make changes to that if necessary”. I had decided that the research was not going as planned and I was willing to make the necessary adjustments to my own study in order to follow what the primary data was showing me.

The researched write up outline proved to be an important part of my writing process because I was ensuring that I had all components of the research process accounted for. I was able to focus on the things I needed to improve and focus on including important aspects of the research. Honestly this was my favorite part of this entire writing process. I was finally able to see everything we have been working towards come together, and I felt as though I finally had an entire plan ready and just needed to execute it on fight day.
