ABOUT THE UWC
WHEN WATCHING PROFESSIONAL MMA FIGHTS, THE MAIN FOCAL POINT IS OFTEN THE KNOCKOUT OR THE TECHNICAL SUBMISSION, THE WIN OR THE LOSS. WRITING FOR ME HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE SAME. I FOCUSED ON THE OUTCOME, AND FAILED TO REALIZE THE STEPS IT TOOK TO GET THERE. WITH THESE PROFESSIONAL FIGHTERS, THE WORK TO GET THERE IS OFTEN OVERLOOKED. THE FAME, THE GLAMOR, THE KNOCKOUT, THE WIN, IS ALWAYS ON DISPLAY BUT THE PROCESS TO GET THERE IS NOT. THERE IS A LOT OF STRATEGY AND KNOWLEDGE APPLICATION THAT COMES WITH FIGHTING AND UNDERSTANDING MATCHUPS AND OPPONENTS THAT WILL HELP FIGHTERS WIN IN THEIR GIVEN SITUATIONS. THAT’S WHY WRITING FOR ME HAS BEEN THE SAME BECAUSE I ALWAYS JUDGED MY WRITING BASED ON HOW “GOOD” IT WAS AT THE END, BUT NOW I’M ABLE TO REALIZE THAT IT IS THE DIFFERENT COMPONENTS THAT I WAS ABLE TO LEARN LIKE AUDIENCE AND EXIGENCE THAT ALLOWED ME TO COMPLETE EACH ASPECT OF THE PROCESS IN ORDER TO GET TO THE FINAL DESTINATION. THEREFORE, I HAVE DEVISED A WRITING PROCESS PORTFOLIO THAT SHOWCASES THE GRIT BEHIND THE GLAMOUR AND FEATURES THREE IMPORTANT STEPS OF WRITING THAT ARE PARALLEL TO THE JOURNEY OF A FIGHTER.
